Welcome to the Atlanta Rabbits Amateur Radio Club Website!
The Atlanta Rabbits Amateur Radio Club was formed in the summer of 2015 to improve the amateur service by educating and encouraging members in both the communication and technical phases of the radio art.
Become an Amateur Radio Operator
The first step in becoming part of this group is to become a licensed amateur radio operator. The easiest way to prepare for the technician exam is by using the flash cards at www.HamStudy.org.
After consistently passing practice tests with a score of 80% or better, it's time to take the test to get the coveted license issued by the Federal Communications Commisssion (FCC). Testing in this area is provided by the Radio Amateurs of Cass County.
Once the license is obtained, a whole new world of exciting radio is opened up!
Join in the Fun!
The Atlanta Rabbits Amateur Radio Club has two repeaters on the air: a VHF Analog, and a UHF DMR (Digital Mobile Radio). The repeaters are open to any licensed amateur radio operator. For more information, check out the KA5AHS Repeaters page.
Radio rabbits participate in many fun and exciting activities! Beyond making friends on the air, the radio rabbits build and experiment with different radio-related technologies, take trips to various hamfests, and become immersed with historical and geographical sites.
An example of a building and learning experience for the Radio Rabbits was when they launched a weather balloon in 2014.
